Not being a fan of Komeda at all, I may not be a reliable source, but this is downright disappointing. All mixes (Friend, Quant, Sarilou, Star) are subpar and there's very little that even comes close to a surprise. I hate it when there's a whole slew of remixes that don't really improve or even change the original track. My version is a Japanese import, but it was released originally by North of No South, Dot's ex-parent label. I dunno, I never liked anything on NONS either, so I could be a really bad source. if i'm allowed to respond to my own question... i did some snooping, asked around, waxed up the web-surf board and turned up this: the Komeda "Simple Formality" remixes were released as an EP by North of No South. the CD was also released in Japan. but there should be no reason to go the expensive-import route. Star (who does one of the mixes) is the latest Dot signing. Dot has found a new mothership since NONS went bust. i'll withhold the name so as not to jinx the much-beleaguered Knights. the following are slated for release: Nonplace Urban Field - "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" DOTCD/LP05 (CD/ltd 2LP) April-May Metamatics - "A Prawn Sandwich" DOTCD/LP06 (CD/ltd 2LP) May-June Various - "Dancefloor Architecture 1" (new series) DOT1210 (ltd 12") April-May -exclusive tracks from Quant, Star, Metamatics and NUF. Various "Dancefloor Architecture 2" DOT1210 (ltd 12") May-June -more (new) exclusive tracks from Quant, Star, Metamatics and NUF Fall '99 Dancefloor Architecture 3 Quant's debut album Star's debut album Hab's second album i think its good news. and something to take your mind off all that oil-war craziness in realityville. mr. e. np: skyray: tranquilliser (ochre)
